Inside the story

When the garden goes dark, small acts of courage bring the light home.

Every evening, ten lantern-flowers light the Valley of Evening Blooms. When their sparks disappear and Varkoon cages the garden’s light-seeds, Lumari and the Friends of the Garden set out to bring them home.

Across ten connected stories, Lumari, Pebbiq, Mossendar, Neyvra, Silune, Fennori, and Auriq cross a trembling bridge, listen to a cloud that will not move, help impatient fish, face a mountain that says “not yet,” restore stolen colors, and learn to understand needs different from their own.

The complete 96-page collection combines a continuing magical adventure with ten read-aloud themes: responsibility, courage, listening, honesty, patience, accepting help, persistence, cooperation, empathy, and kindness.

Questions to explore after reading

Which garden friend noticed what someone else needed first? When did courage mean slowing down or listening instead of rushing ahead? Which small act of kindness helped the light return?

A small activity to carry the story further

Choose one theme from the ten adventures — courage, patience, honesty, empathy or another favourite — and draw a new lantern-flower for it. Give the flower a shape, colour and glow that match the feeling.
